Memory Book

A genealogy of the family of Gerhard and Antke Bunting was written by Marilou Hinrichs of Thomasboro, Il in 1978 and brings some of the Buenting history up to date at that time.  The Buenting family history again has good documentation in the Buenting Family Treasures, a family cookbook written jointly by Frieda (Buenting) Hanssen and JoAnn (Flessner) Feltz in 1988.   In 1992, Debra Buenting, granddaughter of William Buenting, developed the video story of Buenting Family Memories, as told by his descendents. Copies of the family cookbook and Debra’s video are available within the family.  We have desired to add to the record with written memories from each one of the thirteen families who are the descendants of Almt (Ollie) Hanssen and Henry Buenting.  Memories and/or family information were solicited from each family to add to the collection of memories for this booklet.  It is designed to be a “work in progress”. We hope that as it gets circulated through the families, additions will be made and distributed to the other families in the future.  An e mail address list of many of the family members is going to be kept up to date, and we will forward any future additions to the addresses we have on record.

We hope you enjoy the memories, pictures and other information provided.  The Buenting family has a wonderful heritage and we hope to pass it along to the ever increasing number of descendants.
